We’re back, and there’s a lot to catch up on!

After a short publishing break while we upgraded our website infrastructure, the Monthly Musings are back. But we’ve still been busy behind the scenes and there’s plenty of company news, platform updates, and new marketing insights to dive into.

You can click on the Table of Contents on the left to jump straight to the topics you’re most interested in, or simply scroll through to catch up on everything.

This edition covers smarter plan recommendations for new users, significantly more advanced event-based conversion funnels, secure API key authentication, and a full replay of our legal compliance webinar with Dr. Andreas Splittgerber.

Let’s get into it.

Company News and Events

You might well have heard of thoughtbot, they're a pretty big deal in the tech world.

thoughtbot is a design and development agency that helps businesses build exceptional web and mobile apps, modernize systems, and scale their digital platforms.

They're also a respected TWIPLA client, and we're proud that our platform is silently guiding them towards their goals behind the scenes.

thoughbot chose TWIPLA as a way to get deeper UX analytics insights while still respecting their mission to create a more privacy-respecting web.

After moving away from Google Analytics and testing other privacy-focused solutions, they eventually settled on TWIPLA as the best option for getting the analytics they needed without cookie banners or invasive tracking.

With around one million annual site visitors, their team leverages TWIPLA to optimize service pages and high-traffic blog content, using session recordings, heatmaps, and event tracking to uncover friction and improve conversion rates. And all while respecting visitor boundaries.

If you want to see how privacy-first analytics can work at scale, thoughtbot’s approach is a powerful example.

Our Custom Enterprise Plan isn’t new. But now, all the details are finally in one place.

This recently published page walks through everything the plan offers large teams with complex analytics needs: think flexible page view thresholds, a pick-and-mix modular setup, cross-domain analytics, custom dashboards, and premium support as standard.

It’s the scalable and transparently-priced alternative to one-size-fits-all pricing and means businesses don’t need to compromise between insight, privacy compliance, or the restrictions of their budget.

The Technical University of Munich is one of many famous enterprise clients using TWIPLA, and they've unlocked 400% more traffic data than they were getting with Matomo.

If your teams are juggling multiple domains, managing diverse data needs, or scaling fast, this plan is built for you.

Platform Updates

Our conversion funnels module just got a major upgrade.

Now, you can map multi-step conversion flows around granular in-page interactions rather than just page views or URL changes. With support for up to 14 funnel levels, these actions include:

  • Specific webpage visits.
  • Custom URL pattern page visits.
  • Custom event triggers.
  • eCommerce event triggers.
  • Predefined auto event triggers.
  • Outbound link clicks.

As you can see, this update has opened up almost limitless possibilities when it comes to understanding visitor behavior. You can track journeys like:

Visited Page X → Viewed Product → Added to Cart  → Abandoned

Visited Website → Booked a Demo → Initiated Signup → Exited via External Link

TWIPLA also supports retrospective data analysis, so your funnels will now populate with historical journey activity that was captured before the funnel itself was created, as long as the underlying data has been available and tracked.

What’s more (and as before), you can also watch session recordings of real dropouts at every stage of the funnel.

Note: This update to TWIPLA funnels is live for all integration types. But for Wix app users, custom and eCommerce events will only be supported in journey analytics as soon as Wix platform capabilities allow.

You can now generate secure API keys directly within the platform as a replacement for third-party username/password authentication.

This update makes it easier and safer to connect external tools to TWIPLA, with authentication handled at the user level for better security, scalability, and customization.

  • Security: Reduces risk from shared or hardcoded credentials.
  • Scalability: Each site manages its own keys independently.
  • Customization: Tailor integrations to your specific use case.

Generated keys include labels, are only visible once for security reasons, and can be filtered in the table. Expiration dates help keep your key management clean and organized as your integrations grow.

The number of API keys available per website depends on your plan — you’ll find all the details on our pricing page.
